Please Stop Shooting Video Vertically on Your Smartphone [VIDEO]

I don't often blog about things that annoy me, what's the point really? Are you gonna stop what you're doing because some big shot DJ on the radio blogged about it, probably not, but if I can stop one person from committing this tech no-no than this blog will be worth it!

Please stop, cease, quit and under no circumstances shoot video with your smartphone in the vertical position.

I see this phenomenon happen all the time and I just shake my head in disbelief, because when has it ever been OK to shoot and more importantly watch video vertically? Do you watch TV or movies with 3/4 of the screen blacked out? Can you imagine the iconic movie scene between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker when Vader utters the famous line, "Luke, I am your father" shot vertically:

Pretty lame huh? I could go on and on, but the bottom line is, flip your phone and shoot your video the way it should be shot, horizontally, fill that WHOLE screen with beautiful video.
