According to WDIO a special event is being planned for tonight November 2 and tomorrow November 3 in the Hillside neighborhood called a "Better Block" on the corner of 6th Avenue E and 4th Street.  All this week a group from Zeitgeist and the Better Block Foundation have been setting up in an empty parking lot in the area to prepare for the event.

They have been setting up and arranging tables, stringing lights and building seating to surround fire pits. Shawna Mullen with Zeitgeist Arts said "It's just a short-term, temporary pop-up project, and the idea is to get people really excited and thinking about what could be, so just a pop-up temporary thing to help imagine the possibilities of what could become a permanent thing."

The idea came to be after Jason Roberts who is the founder of Better Block was in town for the annual bike ride with the mayor, he said he wanted to come back to Duluth and do something and Mullen knew just the right area. Roberts said the concept for "Better Block" started in his won neighborhood which was blight and not very inviting.

There will be fire pits, a DJ, games, food and more on Friday night from 5-9 p.m. There will also be activities and live music on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
