Rachel Platten Meets Minnesota Girl Using “Fight Song” as Inspiration in Battle With Cancer

A young Minnesota girl fighting kidney cancer got to meet the singer behind the song she is using for inspiration in her battle. Alexa Kirkwood of Oakdale was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer in February of this year, and has undergone multiple surgeries, chemo, and radiation treatments. During her treatment, Alexa found inspiration in Rachel Platten's "Fight Song", even recording a version of her own and sharing it on Facebook.

On Saturday, while Platten was in the Twin Cities for the Basilica Block Party, Alexa got to meet her idol and hang out in the dressing room prior to the concert. Platten and Alexa even sang "Fight Song" together.
