Salt-N-Pepa's here and in full effect! The legendary rap duo, along with their resident DJ Spinderella, have been chosen as honorees at the upcoming VH1 Hip Hop Honors awards show.

After six years off the air, VH1 has chosen to resurrect the rap-centered awards show with the ladies of hip-hop as the main focus. In addition to Salt, Pep and Spin, VH1's Hip Hop Honors: All Hail The Queens will feature a special salute to other pioneering female MC's like Missy Elliott and Queen Latifah, the latter of whom is executive producing the event.

The Grammy-winning Queens rap trio is known for being the first all-female rap group in history. Pushing their brand of female empowerment, the group is best known for their overtly sexually 1987 hit single "Push It," which peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Other Salt-N-Pepa hits include "Shoop," "Whatta Man" and "Let's Talk About Sex." After temporarily disbanding in 2002, the ladies got back together for the Hip Hop Honors in 2005 for a performance of "Whatta Man" with En Vogue.

“Since its inception in 2004, VH1 Hip Hop Honors has recognized the luminaries who broke new ground and propelled the genre into the cultural phenomenon it has become," says VH1 of the upcoming honors.

The main event is set to take place live on Monday, July 11 at 9 P.M. E.S.T. from New York City. With the big night less than a month away, stay tuned to see who else will be honored at the revamped show.
