On Saturday, the Lake Superior Zoo is giving the public a chance to say goodbye to Trouble the Bear.

Trouble is an Alaskan Brown Bear, born in the Alaskan wilderness in 1998 and she came to Lake Superior Zoo at around the age of two after losing his mom and injuring his jaw.

Now it is time for the big bear to move on, the zoo is planning some improvements and needs to move Trouble because his enclosure is out of date and doesn't meet the requirements the zoo needs to keep its accreditation with Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Trouble will be moved to an undisclosed bear sanctuary soon, but you'll have a chance to say goodbye to him on Saturday. Between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm, the zoo staff will put some of his favorite toys out from him to play with, and cake will be served at noon.

Visitors are encouraged to bring a going away present of jars of peanut butter, jelly or dry jello packages to help stock the zoo's animal enrichment pantry.
