The frigidly cold arctic air the Twin Ports experienced this week is on its way out; and with the transition to warmer temperatures, significant snow is following.

The immediate Duluth-Superior area is expected to see about 2-4 inches of snow overnight tonight and into the morning commute, making driving conditions slick with snow-covered roads making the drive to work or school a little hazardous.

Areas just north of Duluth, including Knife River, Two Harbors, Independence, the Iron Range and Arrowhead can expect 4-8 inches of snow, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a winter storm watch from 9 pm tonight through mid-morning Friday. Snowfall is expected to be heavy at times, offering 1-2 inches per hour. This will make driving conditions hazardous due to slick/snow-covered roads and low visibility.
