The Minnesota Vikings locked down another big piece of the team, with wide receiver Stefon Diggs signing a 5-year extension with the team. As training camp kicks off in the Twin Cities, Diggs was one of two big names (with Anthony Barr being the other) that stood out as players due a new deal.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport announced this morning that Diggs and the Vikings agreed to a 5-year, $72 million deal ($81 million max) with $40 million of that guaranteed. He went on to explain in a second tweet that Diggs got a $15 million signing bonus and that this year's base salary is guaranteed as well. Diggs will get $14.4 million yearly base salary with an opportunity to earn a max of $16.2 million per year. This deal puts him in the top 10 highest-paid receivers in the league right now

Diggs, who is only 24, put up 849 yards and 8 touchdowns for the Vikings last season and had a career moment being on the receiving end of the 'Minneapolis Miracle', scoring a walk-off touchdown in an NFC Divisional matchup against the New Orleans Saints to move on to the NFC Championship.

Diggs's counterpart, Adam Thielen, got a 3-year, $17 million contract in March, giving the Vikings at least three more seasons of the Diggs-Thielen duo that has been generally pretty impressive so far. The two reportedly have great chemistry on and off the field, with the two exchanging tweets earlier this summer suggesting as much.
