Good news for the Superior Police Department, their K9 unit, Lacka, will get a bullet and stab protective vest.

The vest comes as a charitable donation from a non-profit organization named Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. based out of East Taunton, MA. Their mission is to donate bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to police dogs across the country.

Vested Interest in K9s has donated 2,800 protective vests, in 50 states, at a cost of over 2.4 million dollars. According to the SPD, each vest costs between $1,744 – $2,283. The vest's weight between 4-5 pounds.

Lacka joined the Superior Police force in March of 2017 and is handled by Officer Jeff Harriman.
