(Now former) ‘American Idol‘ judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler each announced their departure from the show this week, with Lopez announcing that she was moving on during a chat with ‘Idol’ host Ryan Seacrest on Friday (July 13). Tyler beat her to the punch, releasing a statement about his imminent exit the day before. Now a report has surfaced indicating that each judge was fired, even though the show allowed them to bow out gracefully.
After two seasons, Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler has chosen to leave his role as a judge on ‘American Idol.’ Tyler made the announcement via press release, smack dab in the middle of speculation that Charlie Sheen is up for a slot on the panel and right after Jennifer Lopez, who joined the same season as Tyler, said that she thinks it’s time for her to go. Will Randy ‘Yo! Dawg!’ Jackson be the sole judge to remain?
Even though it hasn’t even been confirmed that Jennifer Lopez is leaving ‘American Idol,’ as soon as rumors hit, so did whispers of who’d fill her high-heeled shoes. Adam Lambert was reported to be heavily considered for the judging spot, and with good reason — he’s one of the most successful ‘Idol’ alumni the show’s ever had. So what does Lambert have to say about the rumors?
Kelly Clarkson can cross another item off of her long list of accomplishments. Arguably the most famous ‘American Idol‘ alumna, Clarkson’s single ‘Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)’ off her album ‘Stronger’ became the best-selling ‘Idol’ single of all time, even knocking fellow ‘Idol’ winner Carrie Underwood back to second place. Underwood held the title when her single ‘Before He Cheats’ was released.
Jason Derulo debuted his new song ‘Undefeated’ on last night’s episode (May 22) of ‘American Idol.’ The song was part of a Coca Cola promotion where fans could participate in the writing of the song’s lyrics. Derulo, who has been sidelined from the road and from performing after breaking his neck while rehearsing for tour, began the song while seated. It felt like a cautious move. But like his injury, he didn’t stay down.
On last night’s (May 22) pentultimate episode of ‘American Idol,’ the lovely teen Jessica Sanchez sang three songs. One was selected by producer Simon Fuller, one was a repeat of a during-the-season-performance song and one was her own single. Since her nemesis Phillip Phillips won the coin toss, she went first, as he elected go second. One thing is for sure: her voice is huge and beautiful.
On last night’s (May 22) pentultimate episode of Season 11 of ‘American Idol,’ Phillip Phillips won the coin toss, so he chose to perform after the lovely diva Jessica Sanchez. Phillips had to perform three songs: one selected by producer Simon Fuller, a repeat of a song from earlier in the season and his own single.
On tonight’s (May 9) episode of ‘American Idol,’ the Top 4 performed songs by Californians and songs they wish they’d written. With a pair of boys and a pair of girls remaining, things are intense and in PopCrush’s opinion, the boys have the edge. We can’t decide which of the two will win because they are both so good.
