Fifty Shades of Grey is now the fastest selling paperback of all time.
The first novel in the trilogy sold more than 100,000 paperback copies last week alone. That's something the "Harry Potter" books and all of the "Twilight" novels could NOT do
J.K. Rowling has the "Harry Potter" series, Suzanne Collins has "The Hunger Games" Trilogy, and Stephanie Meyer has the "Twilight" Saga. But wait! Stephenie Meyer also has another book (just the one and has nothing to to with "Twilight") called "The Host" that will also become a movie on March 29, 2013
It’s been two months since author J.K. Rowling whipped Harry Potter fans into a frenzy by releasing only the most cryptic details about what would be on her new site, Pottermore.
Although the site doesn’t officially open to the public until October, there have already been over 22 million pageviews, and a million lucky people were chosen for a sneak peek and the opportunity to shape the website’s development. Those early users have been able to do things like learn new facts about the Potterverse, open an account at the goblin bank Gringotts, and collect items for a virtual “trunk.”
This weekend, two new movie releases at our local Marcus Theatres will try to dethrone ‘Harry Potter’ as king of the box office – one about a patriotic super-hero, the other about two friends who think they can actually make casual sex work.
The first is ‘Captain America: The First Avenger.’ In the film, Chris Evans plays Steve Rogers, a scrawny guy who volunteers for a top-secret scientific experiment that transforms his body and enables him to join the US Army in its crusade against the Nazis.
In news that will surprise exactly no one, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2′ completely dominated this weekend’s box office. The final film in the Potter franchise banked a record-breaking $168.6 million opening weekend, with $92 million on Friday alone.
That number surpasses the previous record holder, ‘The Dark Knight,’ which opened to $158.4 million in 2008.
“I’m too old for cartwheels, but it’s close,” said Dan Fellman, Warner Bros.’ president for domestic distribution. “At the same time it’s bittersweet. It’s also the end of a great franchise, and we’ve watched these talented kids grow up.”
Chef Duff and his crew have worked their magic again -- this time, Potter-style.
The Baltimore-based baker, owner of Charm City Cakes and star of the popular reality show 'Ace of Cakes,' prides himself on creations that are well out of the norm. And this one, conjured up for the New York premiere of the new 'Harry Potter' movie, definitely didn't disappoint.
If you've ever watched the 'Harry Potter' films and thought to yourself, "What this movie really needs is for Malfoy to bust out some rhymes," you're in luck.
Tom Felton, 23, who plays Hogwarts badboy Draco Malfoy in the popular film franchise, just inked a recording deal with an independent label. His chosen musical path? Rap.
‘Harry Potter’ author J.K. Rowling unveiled a sneak peek of her upcoming Pottermore website Thursday, in which she teased a “safe, unique online reading experience built around the ‘Harry Potter’ books.”
In an online video, Rowling said that Pottermore will be a “place where fans of any age can share, participate in and rediscover the stories.”
If there’s one thing ‘Harry Potter’ author J.K. Rowling knows how to do, it’s keeping fans in breathless anticipation. With the book series long behind her and the film adaptation wrapping up with its final installment this summer, Rowling’s got a new project underway and she’s dropping cryptic hints across the internet.
