As we reported last month, the future of 'Iceman' Roger Hanson's contract with the City of Superior was on thin ice following two years of weather-related issues and limited community support. The Superior City Council has now officially made a decision on the third and final year of his contract with the city.

After the disappointing first two years of 'Iceman' Roger Hanson's ice project as part of the Superior Ice Festival, the future of his planned third year in 2017 came into question during the Superior City Council's May meetings.

Love him or hate him, Roger "The Iceman" Hanson is back for another year and another shot at breaking a world record with his Ice Project and now you can watch it come to life or fall to the ground live.

As we've reported previously, "Iceman" Roger Hanson is at work, constructing his second ice project for the City of Superior on Barker's Island. For the second time in as many years, the structure has collapsed during the construction process; which consists of spraying water on a series of guides to create a frozen structure.

'Iceman' Roger Hanson is on Barkers Island once again this year, attempting to create a world-record ice structure for the second year in a row. Following uncooperative weather and a premature collapse last year, Hanson is making another run at things this winter...

Last winter Barkers Island took on a seasonal resident and a project meant to be the centerpiece of winter activities in Superior. As the cold temperatures of this winter have (finally) arrived, so has 'Iceman' Roger Hanson, looking to begin a new ice project.

Roger Hanson better known as "Iceman" has returned to Barkers Island to begin preparations for the 2016 Ice Sculpture Project.

It fell over when it wasn't supposed to, now Iceman Roger says his second try at the 2015 Superior Ice Project "just will not go down."

Just before 10:06 this morning the Superior Ice Project reached a new height of 66 feet before collapsing into a pile of ice 15 feet tall, here is the video of that incredible collapse.
