Today's Feel Good Song of the Day was inspired by a group that has petitioned the White House asking that the national anthem be changed to the R. Kelly tune, "Remix to Ignition." The petition says, "We, the undersigned, would like the Obama administration to recognize the need for a new national anthem, one that even a decade after its creation, is still hot and fresh out the kitch

Danity Kane, the group formed from an MTV reality show, "Making the Band 3" released their single "Show Stopper in 2006.

"No Scrubs" from 1999 became TLC's third number-one single and eighth top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100. It also earned them their second Grammy nomination for Record of the Year.

I was a little surprised to discover that Fastball doesn't have a Youtube channel. (Actually, not really.  I probably haven't even thought about Fastball since the 90's.)  This "official" Youtube video for 1998's "The Way" was recorded straight off of MTV, back when they actually played music videos.

2006's "Smack That" was nominated for "Best Rap/Sung Collaboration" at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards, but lost to Justin Timberlake and T.I.'s "My Love." It was also nominated for the "Most Earths Sattering Collaboration" at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, but lost to "Beautiful Liar" by Beyoncé featuring Shakira...

There's a VW commercial that my husband loves.  At it's the one where the mom hits the curb in her lime green car, grabs her groceries, and tries to stick them in the trunk full of subs.  This song is the one featured in the commercial. But maybe what made this song even more famous than the car commercial is the fact that this song was parodied by none other than Weird Al...

Some of my musical tastes were instilled by my mom when I was a kid growing up in the 1980's.  That is probably why I can't explain my love for Cher, Neil Diamond, or Madonna.  I remember when my mom first got the Immaculate Collection on CD.  We listened to it a lot.  Thank you for that, mom!

An anthem for anyone who wishes they were a little bit taller and a baller, Skee-Lo's "I Wish" was nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 1996 Grammy Awards, but lost to Coolio for his song "Gangsta's Paradise." Blender listed "I Wish" as number 359 on its list of "Greatest Songs Since You Were Born." So how tall is Skee-Lo?

Cher is one of my random favorites.  This song, from 1998 is from her 23rd album.  Twenty. Third. Album.  It topped the charts in more than ten countries worldwide, becoming one of the most commercially successful singles to date. It was certified Platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), selling more than 1 million in the United States.

Vanilla Ice, born Robert Van Winkle (yeah, I would have gone with Vanilla Ice too) saw a lot of success with his single Ice Ice Baby, becoming the first hip hop single to top the Billboard charts...

Voted the best love song in a recent poll, Whitney Houston's cover of the Dolly Parton song, "I Will Always Love You" seemed like an obvious choice for a Valentine Feel Good Song of the Day.  Dolly recorded it first after writing the song in 1973 for her one-time partner and mentor, Porter Wagoner, from whom she was separating professionally at the time...
