The first major snow storm of the season packed a serious punch, with waves of snow through the first week of December leaving Twin Ports and Northland residents digging out. So, how much snow did we get?
While many places in the region have already seen between 1 and 2 feet of snow (see latest snowfall totals here), another heavy round is expected to hit today, leaving a final storm total of between 2 and 3 feet through much of the area before the snow clears out and frigidly cold conditions slide into the area.
Cold and windy conditions and ice still covering many Minnesota lakes made fishing opener an uneventful day for many anglers. While ice hampered fishing plans, it also damaged buildings along the shore of Lake Mille Lacs.
Walking around in Canal Park this evening, I was caught in the very beginning of tonight's winter storm. While the storm promises to be messy, the early goings looked pretty beautiful, even if it is late April.
