The Iconic Ruby Red Slippers used in the famous "Wizard of Oz " movie are in rough shape and the Smithsonian Institute has launched a Kickstarter campaign to get them preserved.
My daughter Rose, who just turned two, is addicted to the 'Wizard of Oz,' I have literally watched that movie at least 25 times in the last three weeks. Her favorite scene is when the ballerinas from the "Lullaby League" dance for Dorthy when she first lands in Munchkinland.
Warner Bros. made a couple of big announcements today -- first, they're releasing the largest Blu-ray/DVD collection ever with a 100 DVD/50 Blu-ray "Best Films from Warner Bros." set. But the bigger news is that they're also converting 'The Wizard of Oz' to 3D because it was bound to happen eventually.
Warner Bros. has announced that starting May 1st, they will stop shipping all versions of the classic 'Wizard of Oz', all except the 70th anniversary 2-DVD set, which will be available until October. After that, no more Scarecrow, Tinman, Cowardly Lion or Dorothy and Toto.
