Famous person Taylor Swift not only fulfilled her civic duty by appearing at a Nashville courthouse today (August 29), but she also silenced the deafening discourse surrounding her mysterious decision to skip the MTV Video Music Awards last night. It turns out her absence had nothing to do with a possible run-in with noted enemies Kanye West and Kim Kardashian -- Swift just got called in for jury duty. Okay!

Several of Swift's fellow jurors took photos and video of the "Blank Space" singer, who seemed to be in unusually high spirits for someone trapped in the endless misery that is jury duty.

She arrived at the courthouse around 8AM, and “was very kind,” according to a source at Page Six.

And it certainly seems like she was, based on the following video of Swift entertaining a fellow juror who told the "Shake It Off" singer that her kids were singing along to one of her songs earlier that morning. What a coincidence!

Swift, who was accompanied by a security guard, even agreed to take selfies with and dole out autographs to some of the jurors. Check out photos of Swift below.

If anything, jury duty will hopefully serve as a suitable distraction for Swift, who reportedly got into an argument with her boyfriend, Tom Hiddleston last week.

The alleged fight stemmed from Hiddleston’s overpacked filming schedule, and the couple’s inability to see each other as often as they had been when they first linked up.

“There was so much going on so it was hard making their schedules work, and they were upset they couldn’t see each other,” an anonymous source said, before adding that their relationship is currently on the mend.
