With the Mounted Patrol no longer part of the Duluth Police Department the Bike Patrol Officers have that much more ground to cover. Unlike most commuters these officers  spend most of their time on bikes patrolling the downtown and Canal Park area, so they are really tuned in to how to stay safe.

Everyone knows how vehicle traffic increases ten fold here in the summer, and on a weekend like Grandmas Marathon add even a few thousand more people than average. I have done a number of blogs regarding cars and bicycles pertaining to the Lakewalk area and designated stop signs.  But, incorporate foot, vehicle and bike traffic downtown and in Canal Park that is a whole other story.
