With a November 2016 release date, all eyes are on the Tupac biopic as it continues production, sadly without Pac's mother Afeni Shakur on hand. Before her passing in early May, Afeni represented an authentic and real tie to the Pac estate, but as The Game tells it in a recent Instagram video, the film is maintaining an edge that has left the Compton rapper proud of those involved.

"I’m proud of the homie Bennie Boom," Game says of the film's director before listing the names of others working on it, including Demetrius Shipp Jr., who plays Pac. "Tupac movie is the real deal, shit make that Biggie movie look like a cartoon." Game does follow that last comment with a disclaimer of no disrespect, or something to that effect, though the audio isn't entirely decipherable in the clip.

The Notorious B.I.G. biopic Notorious came out in 2009 to mixed reviews and maintains a 51 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In light of last year's Straight Outta Compton, which, by contrast, has an 88 percent rating from the same site, the function and representation of hip-hop within the biopic genre began to take on more profound shape. While Compton was largely snubbed by the Academy Awards, a Best Original Screenplay nomination proved a hip-hop biopic could be gritty and prestigious all the same.

Check Game's comments up top. It isn't clear whether he's basing his opinion off pre-recorded scenes or from witnessing production first hand but his insights certainly do raise anticipation even higher.
