The final oceangoing vessel, the Beatrix is scheduled to leave Duluth tonight.

The Beatrix is loading up with wheat in Superior which will be delivered to the United Kingdom.

Mayor Emily Larson posted to social media that the "surge in shipments of Minnesota iron ore this season have outpaced records not seen in a decade...a 35 percent year-over-year increase."

The shipping season generally lasts until mid-January and will resume again in March of 2018.
