Flashback five years and ask yourself if you ever thought The Weeknd would be gracing the 2016 Grammy Awards stage or nominated for Album of the Year at the same damn time. Now, bring yourself back to the first Grammy's performance to ever take place on a Monday and be amazed because the Canadian-bred entertainer wooed Los Angeles' Staples Center from start to finish.

Introduced by what seemed to be an extremely out-of-breath Ariana Grande, The Weeknd touched The Grammy's main stage in a traditional black tux, and opened with his Billboard hit, "Can't Feel My Face." The crowd devoured every moment of the 25-year-old singer's performance as he implemented his signature dance, (basically a re-worked Michael Jackson move), with a vibrant red and blue light show behind him.

The Toronto native then walked down a flight of stairs to a mini orchestra comprised of a cello and piano to perform a semi-classical version of "In The Night."

With his Album of the Year nomination for Beauty Behind the Madness and his big mainstream coming-out party in 2015, he needed to make his mark on music's big night. There's no doubt The Weeknd gained a few new fans today (Feb. 15).
