Can you guess which American Idol raked in the most money in 2012?  No, it's not William Hung.  And Ryan Seacrest doesn't count--but he probably made more than all American Idol contestants combined.

We'll have to congratulate the first ever American Idol crowned, Kelly Clarkson!  Forbes released their list of the top-earning "American Idol" winners of 2012 and Kelly topped the list with $8 million. She's also led the top ten list of American Idol names most likely to be shouted out while getting waxed. (Sorry, Lame "40 Year Old Virgin" reference.)

Carrie Underwood claimed the second spot with $5 million, thanks to her new album "Blown Away", which sold 1.2 million copies--but she shared the that spot with Chris Daughtry, whose band took in six-figures every night on tour.

Scotty McCreery came in at No. 4 with $4 million and Jennifer Hudson rounded out the Top 5 with $3 million.  Jordin Sparks ranked No. 6 with $2 million, Adam Lambert fell to No. 7 with $1.5 million after taking time off to record his new album, "Trespassing".

Rounding out the top ten are NBC's "Smash" star, Katherine McPhee made 1.1 million, Kellie Pickler brought in 1.1 million,  and David Archuleta, who came in second after David Cook the season he competed, made 1 million.
