Six years ago WCCO-TV was doing a story about the Minnesota Boys State Hockey Tournament and interviewed two kids from Hermantown. They were Blake Biondi and Drew Sams. Both boys were in the stands watching the Hawks play and both saying how when they get older they hope to be on the team.

Fast forward six years and both boys are back at The XCel Energy center for the tournament, but both are playing on the team. What a great story and an inspiration to so many kids out there who look up to these HIgh School kids with hopes they to might be playing some day too.

When I first moved to Minnesota I had no idea how big this tournament was and I guess it never really did make a full impact until I moved to Duluth.  Seeing the kids at the ice rink near my house playing hockey day or night in any weather really goes to show the passion and love of the sport in the entire state of Minnesota. So good luck guys, and no matter where the journey ends, what a great story!
