The current turf at U.S. Bank Stadium was put in place in 2016.  Between football games, concerts and more, it's been a very busy few years and now the original turf will be replaced.

StarTribune.com is reporting that the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority plans on installing about 100,000 square feet of new turf, with an expected cost of at least $1 million.

Vikings Vice President Lester Bagley told StarTribune.com that the Vikings and taxpayers each deposit $1.5 million annually into U.S. Bank Stadium's capitol reserve fund to cover the expense of projects such as this.

The stadium is expected to undergo at least $6 million in renovations and enhancements, including the new turf, before the Vikings have their first home game of the 2019 season.

This year will again be busy at U.S. Bank Stadium with two upcoming Garth Brooks concerts, the NCAA men’s basketball Final Four beginning April 6, and more.
