UW-Superior is taking its leftover food and making tasty treats for dogs that will also benefit the Humane Society of Douglas County.

Sandy Thompson is a sous chef for the food service company at UW-Superior and she is the force behind this effort, using a recipe for taking cafeteria leftovers and turning them into yummy dog treats, she began baking.

Thompson says, “I thought this is perfect. I’m a dog lover, and I was a pastry chef and recipe developer in a previous life, so this was right up my alley.”

Most of the treats are donated to the Humane Society of Douglas County, and they say that the dogs love them. Also, limited quantities are being sold at Yellowjacket Union dining hall and at the Humane Society of Douglas County for $4 a bag.
