The Minnesota Vikings appear focused on improving their offense immediately.  They recently named Kevin Stefanski offensive coordinator and now they've added a veteran coach.

According to StarTribune.com, former Houston Texans and Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak has been hired by the Vikings to serve as assistant head coach and offensive advisor to head coach Mike Zimmer.

The addition of Kubiak adds a wealth of experience to the Vikings in the form of a coach who won a Super Bowl as head coach of the Broncos following the 2015 season.

Klint Kubiak, Gary's son, will also be brought on board to serve as Vikings quarterbacks coach.

While I'm all for adding veteran leadership to the coaching staff, I think it will be interesting to see how all the roles play out.  Will first time offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski appreciate having Kubiak as an experienced voice helping the offense or will he feel handcuffed by having to perhaps answer to not only Mike Zimmer, but now Gary Kubiak.

I would hope that Stefanski would be given the freedom to truly serve as the offensive coordinator and do the job he was hired to do, while having Kubiak available for feedback and to assist as needed.

Only time will tell if adding Kubiak helps the Vikings take the next step offensively with a coaching staff working in harmony, or if it creates tension and confusion among the coaching staff.
