Philadelphia Eagles fans have quickly become my least favorite fan base in the NFL and they continue to justify my feelings with this latest tale of stupidity.

Someone either pushed or pulled down a 7-foot bronze statue of explorer Thorfinn Karlsefni (a Viking) which has stood for 98 years.

Police say they suspect a group of 6-7 people toppled the statue overnight, which now sits in the Schuylkill River.

According to PhillyMag.com, this might not be about the Minnesota Vikings at all, who play the Eagles this weekend in Philly, apparently, the statue has become a popular gathering place for white supremacist hate groups, so that may explain the vandalism. The same statue was vandalized in 2008 when it was covered with red paint.

But others are convinced that the statue was knocked over because the Vikings are coming to town this weekend. Police continue to investigate.
