The city of Duluth and the American Federation of Teachers has started a Parent Teacher Home Visit Initiative to help build better relationships with teachers and students, all while getting families involved. Will this initiative make a big impact?

The AFT has been set up for fairness, democracy, economic opportunity, and high-quality public education, healthcare and public services for students, their families and the communities. Recently the initiative has been started in Duluth.

Principal Vatthauer of Lincoln Park Middle School learned about the Parent Teacher Home Visit Program two years ago at a National conference in St. Paul and has brought the program to Duluth.

I absolutely love this idea. I think it will be a great way for parents to be more involved and see their child's teacher as a person and not just an authority figure. Plus, it give the kid and teacher more time to get to know each other rather than in a classroom setting.

Check out the video above and let me know in the comments if you think it's a good idea and if it will make a big impact or not.
