1st Avenue East In Dowtown Duluth Will Close Due To Utility Work

From September 26th-29th Drivers will have to find an alternate route as 1st Ave E will be closed for utility work to be done by the City of Duluth.

The utility work will be a sewer cleaning project along Superior Street in anticipation of a cured in place sewer lining project in October. The sewer lines were built in the 1800’s, so they need to be newly lined for the future.  Due to the project, there will be a temporary road closure between 1st St and Superior Street from September 26 through the 29th.

There will be large equipment in the area, making the west bound lane of Superior Shifted South and narrowed to two 12 foot lanes. There will be no parking allowed on the east and southeast corners of Superior Street near the intersection due to the lane shift.
