Did You Know The ‘Mary Tyler Moore Show’ Has Duluth Ties?
A few days ago, Television icon and creative trendsetter Mary Tyler Moore passed away. Did you know her TV show had Duluth ties?
I honestly love the 'Mary Tyler Moore Show'. When the series came out on DVD, my mom would watch a few episodes every Friday night growing up. I had no idea the show had Duluth ties until I was digging around after the unfortunate news of Mary's passing.
Gerald "Lorenzo" Music got his big break when he became a writer for the 'Mary Tyler Moore Show". Music was raised in Duluth and graduated from Central High School and UMD.
The other tie also includes UMD. According to Perfectduluthday, UMD's Old Main building was used as Mary's High School in the show. It's been way too long since I've seen the show to confirm this, but I feel like it's legit.
One of Jeanne's friends lived a few houses down from the house they used as Mary's home in the TV show. Every time they walked by the house, they would always throw her hats up in the air. Let me know if you have any memories of MTM in the comments below.
