As the 2017 Great Minnesota Get-Together draws near, Summit Brewing is preparing their special beer for this year's fair. They plan to locally source all of the ingredients for the beer from around the state, including the beer's name. The company is looking for name submissions for this year's beer from the public.

To go along with American Craft Beer Week (May 15-21), Summit is looking to the beer-drinking public for creative names for their Kölsch-style ale that will be featured at this year's fair. Summit describes the beer as a beverage that " featuring complex malt notes of shortbread and light toast, thirst-quenching drinkability, and fresh berry characteristics." The berry flavor, by the way, is strawberry. The company says they will also be using "Cascade and Crystal hops grown right here in the Gopher State".

All the fully Minnesota-sourced beer needs is a name. That's where you come in. If you have a creative idea (that isn't something like Beery McBeerface), submit your entries using the info below. If your name is selected, you'll get more than just the honor of your name being used. The winner will also get to be a part of the brewing process, meeting with head Brewer Damian McConn. After the brewing process is complete, you'll be invited to be a part of a special tasting where the beer will be sampled for the first time.

If you have a name you want to submit (that isn't a name already used by another beer), email the following information to  contests@summitbrewing.com between May 15 and May 21:

  • Your full name
  • Your phone number and address
  • Your proposed name for the beer
