Cold and windy conditions and ice still covering many Minnesota lakes made fishing opener an uneventful day for many anglers. While ice hampered fishing plans, it also damaged buildings along the shore of Lake Mille Lacs.

Gusty north winds around 40 miles per hour pushed sheets of ice ashore at Izaty’s Resort on Mille Lacs lake, leading to some minor damage and piles of ice against some buildings at the resort. The videos below capture just how quickly the ice came ashore, with it only taking about five minutes to encroach onto the shore and press up agains buildings.
