Man Severely Burned in Wheelchair Fire at MN Restaurant
Vadnais Heights, MN (KROC-AM News) - A man suffered severe burns after an electric wheelchair apparently caught fire at a Twin Cities restaurant Sunday afternoon.
The City of Vadnais Heights says the community’s fire department responded to Jimmy’s Food and Drink just before 3 PM after receiving a report of a burn victim. The responding firefighters later learned that a person had been on fire.
By the time emergency responders arrived at the scene, they confirmed the fire was out and began providing medical care. The news release indicates the fire victim was then transported to Regions Hospital with serious injuries.
The Pioneer Press today reported that the 73-year-old Roseville man was listed in critical condition as of this morning.
A spokesperson for the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
