Minnesota Sex Offender Program Escapee Caught 5 Hours Later
St. Peter, MN (KROC-AM News) - A man who escaped from the Minnesota Sex Offender Program at the St. Peter State Security Hospital was on the loose for approximately 5 1/2 hours before he was captured this morning.
The St. Peter Police Department says it was notified of the escape around 1:30 AM. It was reported that 45-year-old Beau-Jacob Zimmer somehow managed to get out of the secure facility and left on a bicycle. St. Peter police indicated he was in possession of a kitchen knife.
Zimmer was apprehended around 7 AM. A news release says a citizen spotted him and he was taken into custody on a County Road west of St. Peter.

Minnesota Court records indicate Zimmer was civilly committed as a sexually dangerous person by authorities in Wright County in 2016.
