The first full week of March has certainly brought us a little bit of everything when it comes to weather. We started with some warm temperatures, then had some rain which eventually turned to ice and snow, and all of that happened in just 3 days!

Of course, that's what we've all come to expect this time of year, but it's also the time of year when signs of spring start showing up across the Northland, even with snow on the ground and likely more on the way.

For example, Gordy's Hi-Hat in Cloquet recently announced on Facebook that they would be opening for the season on March 20, the first official day of spring.

While that is certainly good news, another sign of spring arrived on March 5 from another Northland favorite.

The West Duluth Dairy Queen Makes A Sweet Announcement

West Duluth Dairy Queen owner Chuck Koltes announced on his Facebook page that it was officially open for the season. The West Duluth Dairy Queen is located at 4431 Grand Avenue.

The announcement was met with a flood of happy comments from all over the Northland, with many saying they had been waiting for the big news to finally arrive so they could continue their tradition of visiting the popular Dairy Queen location.

Also included was a photo of their DQ sign that invited customers to try the Mint Oreo Blizzard, which happens to be my favorite so I'm definitely sold.

Another sign arrives this weekend when Daylight Saving Time occurs on Sunday, March 9. Remember, before you go to bed this Saturday, set that clock ahead and start enjoying sunsets past 7:00 p.m.
