
UPDATE: Body Of Missing Wisconsin Student Has Now Been Found
On the evening of Sunday, July 20, the Lacrosse Police Department in Wisconsin first reached out through social media to notify the public that a woman had gone missing earlier that morning.
La Crosse, Wisconsin, is a city on the Mississippi River, with a population of over 51,000 as of 2023, and once that news became public, the community rallied to quickly locate 22-year-old Eliotte Heinz.
However, despite those efforts, she remains missing, and now law enforcement, along with the family of Eliotte Heinz, are imploring the people beyond the La Crosse area to share this information because the more people who are aware, the better the chance that she can be found.
UPDATE: Body Of Eliotte Heinz Has Been Found
On Wednesday, July 23, authorities provided a tragic update as the body of Eliotte Heinz was found. According to reports, the La Crosse Police Department said Eliotte Heinz's body was found in the Mississippi River near Brownsville, Minnesota, around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Brownsville is about 15 miles down the river from La Crosse. Police are still investigating. Her cause of death is not yet known.
"This was not the outcome we had hoped for throughout this search," La Crosse Police Chief Shawn Kudron said. "Our thoughts are with Eliotte's family, friends, and all those who knew Eliotte. We are grateful for the outpouring of support from so many within the La Crosse community, the State of Wisconsin, and nationally to locate Eliotte."
Eliotte Heinz Reported Missing On Sunday, July 20
The La Crosse Police Department issued a news release, which was shared throughout social media, asking for assistance in locating a missing person.

It stated that Eliotte Heinz, born on June 8, 2003, had last been seen walking southbound on the 500 Block of Front Street South, near the Mississippi River, at approximately 3:22 am on July 20th, 2025.
Reports have since stated that she was on her way home from a local bar after a night out with friends.
Despite the best efforts of her family, friends, and the police, the 22-year-old graduate student at Viterbo College in La Crosse was unable to be located.
