The Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday at noon to mark a new chapter at one of Duluth's oldest businesses.

Continental Ski & Bike, located on 1st Street on Duluth's Hillside, is under new ownership. Bryan and Carina Peterson are now the proprietors of the local bike and ski shop, which first opened in 1955.

They say in a press release that they are committed to the core values of the shop.

This is more than a change in ownership; it’s a commitment to maintaining the shop’s core philosophy: that skis and bikes offer simple solutions to many of the community's complex problems, fostering personal health, environmental well-being, and recreation.

The ribbon cutting takes place at noon, and a light lunch from Jimmy John's will be offered. They will be doing prize drawings, shop specials, and offering shop tours.

The new owners say the staff is passionate about getting people outdoors:

The team is composed of caring professionals who have chosen their careers in the outdoor industry. Their passion for skiing and biking is real and contagious, and they prioritize sharing their knowledge and personal experiences to help customers of all levels. The staff offers expert guidance without showing off, making outdoor sports more accessible, not intimidating.

Continental Ski & Bike offers sales, service, rentals, accessories, snowshoes, clothing, and more. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am -6 pm, and Sundays from Noon - 5 pm. They are located at 1305 E. 1st Street in Duluth.
