Superior is becoming known for Halloween festivities. They have the Superior Spooktacular, a parade, and 5k that happened this last weekend and more fun to come.

Superior also continues to have the Haunt Your House contest each year. They award prizes for people who decorate their homes, and over the years the competition has become crazy! You can really see some creepy places in town.

Just this morning, Mayor Jim Paine announced that they will be "leaning into" the Halloween holiday even more this year. The hotspot for trick or treating has become Hammond Avenue in Superior.

Utility work has shut down Hammond Avenue from Belknap to 21st Street this fall, and now the mayor has announced it will remain closed for Halloween. Keeping it closed will allow for safer trick or treating.

The mayor is also inviting people to set up pop-up trick-or-treat stations in the park or on the sidewalk. He asks that you call the mayor's office for more information on setting up a pop-up station.

Many residents had positive comments on the closure of Hammond from Belknap to 21st Street. Others suggest that the city also close the section from 21st-28th of Hammond as well. Thousands of trick-or-treaters normally make their way through that section as well, and some homeowners spend big money on decorations. They mayor mentioned in comments that they will probably do that next year.
