Another season of Survivor is right around the corner and now, we can all have a better idea of who to root for: three Minnesotans were cast on the show this time around and one still lives here!

The cast for the new season of the show was just released and by the looks of it, it is going to be a great season. This is the forty-forth season of the show so you probably know how it works by now. The new season will premiere on Wednesday, March 1st on CBS.

If you don't know how it works, I will get you up to speed. Basically, a group of random people take over an island and have to compete against one another in a series of challenges. There is a million-dollar prize for the last standing survivor, otherwise known as the Sole Survivor.

Each season, they go to a different far-off but beautiful and tropical location. This season, they will be going to Fiji to take part in the challenge. There are eighteen castaways this season and they will be divided into teams. A press release calls this a "faster, more dangerous" season than those past.

I do feel like Minnesotans have an advantage here, as we are born and raised in long, dreary winters. A tropical location seems pretty easy to navigate, right? We will have to wait and see if a Minnesotan wins the whole thing when the season premieres but for now, we have a little insight into who they are prior to the premiere.

Contestant One: Frannie Marin

According to CBS, Frannie is a 23-year-old who was born in St. Paul. She doesn't reside in Minnesota anymore, living in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She is a research coordinator and a huge fan of the show.

After the news was officially announced, she took to her official Instagram page to share her excitement, saying that she is excited to stab people in the back for the sake of the show. Ha! She also shared that she talks about the show a lot as a super fan and is beside herself to get to be a part of it.

Contestant Two: Sarah Wade

This contestant is a bit more under-the-radar, as she has her social media accounts locked down for now. What we do know is that she is a 27-year-old from Rochester, just a short drive from the Twin Ports.

She currently lives in Chicago and is a management consultant. She works in what she calls a male-dominated industry and says she is excited to be on the show to see how much she can push herself to the limit.

Contestant Three: Carolyn Wiger

Last but not least, we have Carolyn. She is a 35-year-old who was born in North St. Paul. She still lives in Minnesota, in Hugo, just a few hours from the Duluth area. She is a drug counselor.

She took to her social media pages after the cast was announced and said she was excited to be part of such a great show and community like Survivor. Considering she is the only one to still reside in Minnesota, my bet is on her!
