Arrests Made After Threats Against Two Minnesota Schools
Nevis, MN (KROC-AM News) - Authorities in northwestern Minnesota today reported the arrest of a teenage boy accused of threatening to shoot up his school.
A statement issued by Hubbard County Sheriff Cory Aukes says the Sheriff’s Office received a report around 3:15 PM Thursday from Nevis School concerning a student who had threatened to bring a gun to school. Sheriff Aukes says school administrators told deputies they learned that a 14-year-old student had told other students he was going to “shoot up the school, shoot a particular student, and then shoot himself.”
Deputies sent to the school interviewed several students and confirmed the threats, which had already been reported to administrators. The statement says the deputies then went to the juvenile’s home and met with him and his father.
Hubbard County Sheriff Confirms Teen’s Confession
Sheriff Aukes says the teenager confessed to making the threats and was taken into custody pending charges of terroristic threats. He is currently being held at the Northwestern Minnesota Juvenile Center in Bemidji.
