Small Town Minnesota Murder Suspect Accused of Killing Brother
Elbow Lake, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities have identified the victim and suspect in a rural Minnesota murder case.
Formal charges are expected in the coming days. The alleged killing happened Sunday evening.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the report of a shooting in the small western Minnesota town of Elbow Lake Sunday night. The 911 caller told law enforcement he had shot his brother.
The gunshot victim was found dead at the scene. Officials say the caller and suspected shooter remained at the scene and was detained.
On Tuesday Grant County Sheriff Jon Combs said the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office identified the shooting victim as 33-year-old Stephen Erik Grytdahl.
Combs says his suspected killer is his younger brother, identified as 30-year-old Connor Bruce Grytdahl. Details regarding the events that led up to the shooting have not been released.
Connor was booked into the Wilkin County Jail on suspicion of second-degree unintentional murder.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting Grant County authorities with the murder investigation.
