Young Minnesota Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Hwy. 14
Eagle Lake, MN (KROC-AM News)- A young Minnesota man lost his life following a car-motorcycle crash in southern Minnesota.
It happened shortly before 5:40 Tuesday evening. The deadly crash occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 14 and 610th Ave., which is about 10 miles east of Mankato.
The Minnesota State Patrol’s crash report indicates the motorcycle, which was traveling east on Hwy. 14, and a sedan that was southbound while crossing the four lane highway collided in the intersection.
The motorcycle operator has been identified as 18-year-old Tyler James Schmitz of Farmington. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
27-year-old Collin Troy Obrien of Elysian, MN was driving the sedan. He was transported to the Mayo Clinic hospital in Mankato for treatment of what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Schmitz was wearing a helmet and alcohol was not involved in the fatal crash, the report says.
