MnDOT has decided to delay scheduled work on the Blatnik Bridge after it caused significant traffic backups in Superior today.

District Engineer Duane Hill of MnDOT said, "We had to close one lane on the bridge to ensure a safe work area. We discovered that reducing the traffic lanes on Blatnik caused a significant traffic backup. We stopped our work and will reschedule it.”

Part of the reason the delays were so bad is because the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is doing some major work on the Bong Bridge. The Duluth bound lanes were closed to traffic on Monday and will be closed until November 1st, 2014.
