23rd Veteran, a Duluth area nonprofit, will host their second Nearly Naked Ruck March on Saturday starting at 10:00 am.

Military and civilizations are encouraged to hike with weighted packs either 6 or 10 miles along Duluth’s Lakewalk wearing nothing but boots, hats, gloves and long underwear.

For every $10 that participants raise, they add 1lbs to their pack. According to 23rd Veteran, "this weight symbolizes the weight that we carry in the battle against combat
stress."

“Five years after combat I fell into severe panic attacks and other symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD),” says Mike Waldron, Executive Director of 23rd Veteran. “Life was very difficult to live, it became clear why someone would kill themselves. According to a Veterans Administration study, 22 veterans commit suicide every day. Since I came close to being one of the 22, I considered myself the 23rd Veteran, the one who decided not to.”
