This one hurts, I went shopping the other day and was surprised to find the doors closed at one of my favorite stores in the Twin Ports.

The timing of closure couldn't come at a worse time for me, as it's getting into Halloween season, and this is one of my go-to Halloween supply stores, so closing its doors as Halloween is approaching, sucks.

The Michaels store in Duluth located at the Stoneridge Shopping Center has closed, but the closure is temporary, and they expect to have a grand re-opening soon, although no date was given.

On a sign posted on the windows of the store, Michaels says that they are temporarily closed for "roof repair and maintenance". The store's roof was damaged the winter before last, that was the record-breaking winter where Duluth got 140.1 inches of snow and also caused roof damage at the Miller Hill Mall.

If you visited Michaels anytime since the 2022–2023 winter, you'll have noticed that there is a large section of the store that is blocked off to the public, as the roof is not safe. I think the store may have also suffered some water damage during that roof incident.

When I stopped at Michaels the other day, crews were busy doing demolition and clearing stuff out of the store, so this unfortunately means that I'll have to wait on my Halloween shopping, hopefully they will reopen in time for spooky season.

Like I mentioned, no date was given for the re-opening, but they do say that they will "improve your future Michaels experience", so other changes for the store may also be in the works.
