Next time you are out shopping and you are asked for your Zip Code during the transaction, think twice about giving out that Information, it could end up in the hands of a Third Party.

According to a consumer watchdog group called Privacy Rights Clearinghouse, some of these retailers sell this information to third party groups who then solicit the consumer with junk mail and phone calls.

It seems at least to me that the amount of junk mail we now get has really gone down compared to years past, and it is harder with cell phones for solicitors to get a hold of you, but it still happens.

Of course If you purchase items on line you have to enter all of that information in order to get your purchases, but for any brick and mortar building, they do not need your zip code to complete the transaction.

I am definitely going to put this to work next time I am asked. I don't want to come off like a jerk, but I don't want a bunch of junk mail either.
