Among the multitude of family activities as the 2017 Lake Superior Ice Festival is a 18-foot wide, 250-foot long slide that will be open through the weekend's schedule of events.

The $30,000 winter attraction being fashioned by ice and technology by engineer Roger Hanson on Barker's Island has faced plenty of obstacles this winter, but the latest happening is likely the end of this year's project.

Driving home this afternoon I took a quick detour to see for myself the Wall of Ice project that artist Roger Hanson has been working on.  There is a noticeable difference than what I saw just a few days ago.

The first Superior Watercross Shootout is in the books, and spectators and race drivers are equally excited about the first-time Twin Ports event. Beautiful weather and lots of high-speed action brought crowds to the shore of Barker's Island as over 100 competitors hit the water in drag and oval racing in both stock and modified classes.

Crowds gathered for day two of the inaugural Superior Watercross Shootout at Barker's Island in Superior for Championship Sunday as racers competed for trophies and cash.

Crews in Superior recently finished repairing the culvert at Barker's Island from the flooding caused by the storms one year ago, almost to the date, but the 2-4 inches of rain that Superior got overnight was enough to cause serious damage for the second year in a row.
