Like many like minded tricksters, I was busy last night preparing a prank to pull on some unsuspecting co-workers this morning. But, the outcome was a little different then Cooper and I expected.

In Illinois last week, a truck carrying frozen baked goods and bratwurst was involved in an accident, causing its cargo to spill all over I-74. The results were delicious.

On this date in 1847 a Sea Captain named Hanson Gregory perfected what we know as the modern day donut. Gregory did not come up with the concept of frying dough, sometimes called a olykoek or 'oily cake", but he was the first to poke a hole in it and call it a donut. This man is a hero to me, I love him. I have scoured the internet to find these 5 awesome donut videos so we can celebrate this wonderful day in history.

Whether you like glazed, Boston cream, jelly-filled or powdered, today is a great day to be an American. That's right - it's National Doughnut Day.
