For Star Wars fans and regular people alike this is a pretty big deal to see a giant snow sculpture of Jabba the Hutt right before your very eyes.

Last winter offered very little snow for Harry Welty to satisfy his annual winter tradition of creating a snow sculpture in his front yard at the intersection of 21st Avenue East and 4th Street in East Duluth. While it hasn't completely stuck around through the entire region, there has been enough snow for him to create his latest creation.

Drivers who travel past the intersection of 4th Street and 21st Avenue East in Duluth during the winter months have grown accustomed to seeing snow sculptures in the yard of Harry Welty, who lives right on the corner of the two intersecting streets. In the 25 years Welty has been carving snow statues in his yard, none have been quite as meaningful as the one currently on display.
