Sandy Hook Elementary School

The Super Bowl is all about fun times and mirth and merriment. But Super Bowl XLVII kicked off with an emotional moment of incredible weight, when the Sandy Hook Student Chorus from Newton, Conn. stepped onto the field to sing 'America the Beautiful' at tonight's (Feb. 3) big game. The children sang the song on their own before being joined by diva Jennifer Hudson.

Ingrid Michaelson teamed up with 21 young students from Newtown, Connecticut, to record "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" as a tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.  All proceeds from the sale of the song will benefit the Newtown Youth Academy and the United Way of Western Connecticut.

Drivers who travel past the intersection of 4th Street and 21st Avenue East in Duluth during the winter months have grown accustomed to seeing snow sculptures in the yard of Harry Welty, who lives right on the corner of the two intersecting streets. In the 25 years Welty has been carving snow statues in his yard, none have been quite as meaningful as the one currently on display.

In last night's episode of "The Voice" an emotional tribute honored the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting victims.  The coaches, past contestants, the top three, and even Carson Daly and Christina Milian stood on stage with cards, each holding the name and age of each of the victims from Friday's horrific tragedy singing Leonard Cohen's "Halleluja...

When our country faces natural disasters, acts of God, or other devastation, it's amazing how we can pull together.  We donate our time, our money, our resources, and send our prayers.  Unlike a physical devastation--it's not as easy to see what will be needed...
