Taylor Swift Reveals How Her Actual Cats Inspired the Movie ‘Cats’
Taylor Swift is a MAJOR cat lady, so it made sense when her name showed up in the movie's cast list. During the Cats world premiere in New York City on Monday (December 16), the pop star revealed how her own actual cats — Meredith, Olivia and Benjamin — inspired a particular character (and it wasn't her own Bombalurina).
"The cat they're most like in the movie is a cat called Jennyanydots, which Rebel Wilson plays," she explained to Entertainment Tonight.
The actors apparently attended "cat school," where they learned how to move and act like creepy human-like cats. Swift introduced the instructor to her own feline friends, and that's when the light bulb turned on.
"She was like, 'Can I send these to Rebel? They're the perfect inspiration for her cat!'" Swift recalled. "So, my cats didn't inspire me — but I like to think that, when they were sent to Rebel, they did inspire her for her character development."
Aside from acting in the movie, Swift also penned an original song, "Beautiful Ghosts," for the project alongside the original musical's character Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Cats hits theaters on Friday (December 20).
