A Majority Of Indoor Exhibits To Re-Open At Lake Superior Zoo Next Week

On June 12 the Lake Superior Zoo began Phase 1 of their re-opening of the Zoo. The number of guests was restricted to 25% capacity in order to ensure proper safe distancing and comply with the state guidelines. The Walk on the Wild Side outdoor-only experience was opened to the public and new precautions were put in place.

Blue paw prints have been painted on the grounds of the zoo to help with social distancing and to help visitors stay on the designated paths. Precautions established at the zoo are as follows : Masks are recommended for all visitors, all zoo staff will be wearing masks and their health will be monitored each day. Please cover coughs or sneezes with a tissue or your elbow. If you are not feeling well please do not visit the zoo. Use hand sanitizer if you can't wash your hands with soap and water. Do not gather in groups at exhibits, and please do not touch glass of exhibits. And avoid touching your eyes and mouth.

Phase 2 of the Lake Superior Zoo re-opening is Thursday July 2. They are excited to announce that a majority of their indoor buildings will be open.  Guests will have access to indoor buildings like the Primate Conservation Center, Nocturnal Building, and the Australia/Oceania building, and Zoo Central.

According to the Lake Superior Zoo Facebook Page "The Griggs Learning Center will remain closed to the public during this phase. Zoo Central will be used as an exit route, but you will still be able to see a few animals like Yoda the veiled chameleon, gila monsters, several amphibians, and the indoor black-crested mangabey habitat! Operating hours will remain Thursday-Sunday from 10am-5pm."
